Community Resources

HealthWest along with our community partners has a Psychological First Aid (PFA) team that responds to traumatic events in our county. PFA aims to reduce stress symptoms and assist in a healthy recovery following a traumatic event, natural disaster, public health emergency, or even a personal crisis.

Early intervention can prevent more serious mental health problems later. Psychological First Aid is practically focused. People can recover from a traumatic event with support. PFA supports safety, calmness, self-empowerment, connectedness, and hope.

Examples of traumatic events:

  • Suicide
  • Homicide
  • Unexpected death
  • Accidents
  • Personal crisis
  • Workplace violence
  • Violent threats
