Bow Wows and Books

March 12, 2016 @ 5:00 am - 6:00 am

Free

Families with children ages 4 to 5 are invited to participate in this interactive session to build emergent reading skills.

It is a free, no-pressure literacy opportunity where children read to assistance dogs in training.

The one-hour session, structured for families to come and go, is the culmination of teamwork by the Baker College of Muskegon early childhood education and veterinary technology programs and Paws With A Cause, an assistance dog training organization.

Children gain confidence reading to the nonjudgmental dogs, the socializing helps improve the dogs’ success as assistance animals, and the Baker College students who facilitate the session, gain invaluable knowledge and experience working with children and dogs.

Please make reservations by the Thursday prior to this session by contacting Liz Garman at (231) 777-5375 or liz.garman@baker.edu.
